Hi, I'm Denise Castro. Thanks for stopping by.
Please, allow me to share a little bit about myself and what Replenish Hope is all about. But first, before anything else, I want you to know that I am first and foremost a daughter of Jesus Christ. Bienvenidos. Welcome.
Before Replenish Hope, I was a hopeless hot mess on short legs. The hopelessness crept in shortly after we adopted our beautiful daughter. It showed up as what they call the adoption blues, and it collided with the pain of my childhood, the hurt I had carried for years. I became clinically depressed. Manic episodes. Anger I couldn't control. I was living... but I was lifeless. Deep sadness and the fear of tomorrow would oppress me. I was disappointed with God, with life, with myself. Medication, therapy, religious works, they helped as much as they could. But they could not give me hope.
And then God showed up — through the tough love of my husband. He looked me in the eyes and said: Denise, if you don't seek help and change, you are going to lose everyone you love and everything you've worked for. I saw the pain in his eyes. And I saw the reality of my life. I knew he was right. So I did something about it.
God directed me to Celebrate Recovery. I surrendered to Jesus. And with help, I came out of denial. He didn't just patch me up. He recovered me. He restored me. He replenished me — emotionally, mentally, spiritually — in ways I never thought possible. And that's when my imperfect, yet gracious, Replenish Hope journey began.
Replenish Hope launched out of my heart on my third year of recovery. God gave me the name as I sat under a majestic waterfall in Huatulco, Mexico. I'll never forget how alive I felt in that moment — so connected to my Creator. So replenished. As I looked at the water pooling below me, God whispered: "Replenish Hope." "The Kingdom needs you. Share your story. Give the gift of hope to many — through Me." And so that's what this is. Replenish Hope isn't just a ministry. It's my story. And I have a feeling... it might be yours too.
No matter where you are — young, in the middle, or in your ruby years — we all have something to learn from each other, if we just give each other the gift of listening. Every week on the Replenish Hope podcast, we gather hope for tomorrow — and give it away. And if you want to experience Replenish Hope in person, we have our yearly Women's Gathering — a day where we do just that. You will be seen. Understood. And transformed by God's hope.
